Some of these structures may need additional permit to ensure they are constructed properly and safe for people to use once they are built. In most residential cases an engineer or other professional is not needed to draw up the plans. A contractor or a homeowner can apply on their own for a county building permit. When filling out the county building permit application information such as the value of the construction, materials, labor, what the permit is going to be used for, and how the structure will run (electric, gas, ect.) all have to be included.

 

If the building official determines that the project is a violation the county building permit application will be rejected. If the official feels the project meets all requirements the county building permit will be issued. Applications for county building permits can be found on the internet, or county office locations. Once the permit is approved it is valid two years from the date that it was issued. If construction has stopped for a period of six months or more a new application must be submitted before work can resume. If no progress on the building has been made in six months a new county building permit will be needed.
